After completing a successful 36-year career as President and CEO of a large regional advertising agency headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Ed Lane moved to Maui, where he already maintained a second home, and began to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a "full-time" artist.

When asked during a recent newspaper interview if he didn't feel cheated giving all those years to advertising and television instead of painting, Ed replied: "Not at all. Van Gogh painted for only 15 years, Toulouse Lautrec for 14 years. I figure I've got at least that long left to make my mark as a painter."

He certainly didn't waste any time in his new "profession". He was almost immediately accepted into the 1996 Juried Art Maui Exhibition and the Maui County Mayor's Invitational. Since then, he has been selected to be in over 65 juried shows in Hawaii and on the mainland, has received numerous awards in national juried shows and has received reviews by art critics in Honolulu and Maui. In 2001 the Hawaii State Foundation for the Arts purchased a painting for the State Collection. And even with all this, he has still found time each year to spend a month or two painting in France.

Ed Lane's training began as a child. Since the age of six, Lane has been fascinated with shapes and colors. "I was a bad student", remembers Ed, "always drawing instead of studying". But he was no child prodigy, simply a struggling student with a talent for some pretty nice scribbling. Surrounded by artists in his family, his creative abilities were soon recognized and encouraged. His formal art studies were at Kansas City Art Institute and the William Rockhill Nelson Art Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in fine art, and a two-year stint in the Air Force, Lane began a thirty-six year love affair with the "exuberance" of his art.

Here's Some "Added Value"
(Exclusively From Hana Coast Gallery)

Asset Valuation Portfolio

Our Collector's Portfolio includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Certified Insurance Valuation, Bill of Sale and Biography of the artist whose work you've acquired. This asset appraisal data accompanies every original work of fine art. Ed Lane's original paintings will also be enrolled with the National Fine Arts Title Registration with full online password security as our gift to the collector.

For many of our works of original art, we also provide a "Curatorial Declaration". This report discusses the particular medium used in creating the artwork and other unique properties that might be present in the piece you have acquired.

This kind of art acquisition information is usually required both for insurance purposes and for reappraisals dictated by increased market values. It is also documentation that is seldom offered to buyers, except by private art consultants or high-end galleries for their wealthier collectors.

We feel that ALL of our valued clients should receive this quality of service, thus our Collector's Portfolio. (Your CPA will love this investment-grade data.)
