Mats Fogelvik, one of Maui's well-established Master Artisans, can always be counted upon to design beautiful and creative works of furniture art. Here is a very un-traditional piece of custom designed furniture, which Mats calls "Mahina Hapalua". Made from rare Hawaiian curly-grain Koa wood, this demi-lune table features rare koa wood from Hana's Nahiku District, Holly and Pheasant woods.

The table is finished with oil and catalized varnish, allowing the natural beauty of this rare Hawaiian wood to show its "flares" of figuring. Catalized varnish is a diamond-hard protective coating that requires no maintrenance beside dusting.

This is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of furniture that is of heirloom quality, which you and your family will enjoy for generations to come.

Mats Fogelvik was born in Sweden in 1959. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, a famous Swedish artist and woodworker, Mats attended art and furniture-making school in Stockholm.

"I grew up in an Arts & Crafts family," Mats says. "We still have a living tradition of woodworking in Sweden, and I was surounded by beautifully crafted handmade furniture in my youth. I have a rich inspirational source to draw from in the Scandinavian heritage and traditions. I am attracted to simplicity, beauty and function in form"

After his schooling in Stockholm, he went on to became a wood-shop teacher. Then in 1991, while traveling around the world, Mats discovered Maui. He quickly established a woodworking studio and began making one-of-a-kind pieces of handcrafted furniture.

What's It Worth?

Valuations For Insurance & Estate Planning

Our Collector's Asset Valuation Portfolio includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Certified Insurance Valuation, Bill of Sale and Biography of the artist whose work you've acquired. This asset appraisal data accompanies every original work of fine art or mastercraft that you acquire from us.

For many of our works of original art, we also provide a "Curatorial Declaration". This report discusses the particular medium used in creating the artwork and other unique properties that might be present in the piece you have acquired. If appropriate, your artwork will be enrolled with the National Fine Art Title Registry and a certificate issued.

This kind of information is usually required both for insurance purposes and for reappraisals dictated by increased market values. You will find that this is an approach to Wealth Management Documentation that has been typically available to only select, high-net-worth individual collectors. We, however, feel that ALL of our clients deserve to be treated with this level of service, thus our Collector's Portfolio.

(Your CPA will love this investment-grade data.)
