Born in New York State, Robert graduated from the Rochester Institute of
Technology, completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Woodworking and Furniture
design with a 3.4 grade point average. One of his first group exhibitions
was at the Exhibition of Fine Furniture at Baush & Lomb's world headquarters
gallery in 1998.
Maui artisan Robert Lippoth's singular work has already been featured in
the national media. The September, 2000 issue of "Modern Woodworking Magazine"
featured one of Robert's chairs that had previously won 1st Place in the
Seating Category at the International Woodworkers Fair in Rochester, New York. |

Or Perhaps A Stunning Execxutive Desk Designed and Handcrafted by Robert Lippoth (Hawaii Master Artisan) 62.5" L x 37" W x 30.75 H $19,600
The book-matched top is made of superbly grained dark "curly" Hawaiian Koa wood.
The aprons are also of a "blonde" Koa. The elegantly curved legs are laminated for
extra strength with a combination of Koa and Hawaiian Milo. The rare Koa wood comes
from here on Maui.
The top is sealed with long-lasting epoxy, then carefully handrubbed with a
diamond compound and wax finish that requires not maintenance other than an
ocassional dusting. |

Robert speaks of his work:
"When I design a piece, I think of it as a
sculpture in the format of furniture. Often it is in nature that I find
the most inspiration. Even a single blade of grass represents a perfect
example of a subtle curve and gentle taper".
"My primary goal is to delight the viewer (and collector) with
furniture that is fresh, alive and playful. I want to design and
build furniture that irresistably pulls people in for a closer
look and instills in them the desire to touch. The works of
wood-art that I create are considered to be of heirloom quality
to be cherished and treasured for years to come." |

Designed and Handcrafted by Robert Lippoth (Hawaii Master Artisan) 50" L x 18" W x 34" H $7,500
The top is made of highly figured curly-grained book-matched Hawaiian Koa wood.
The legs are laminated for extra strength with an accent of maple inlay and black-dyed Costello wood.
Koa is found nowhere else in the world, other than in Hawaii. It is truly one of the rarest of woods and treated with great respect by
the master artisans who use it in their heirloom pieces of furniture art.
And like the dining room table shown above, the top is sealed with long-lasting epoxy, then carefully handrubbed with a
diamond compound and wax finish that requires not maintenance other than an
ocassional dusting. |
