"Natural Transitions"
Handcrafted From Solid "Curly-Grain" Hawaiian Koa Wood
63.5" L x 38" W x 30.5 H

$18,000

Handcrafted from one of the rarest woods on the planet, this elegant yet sturdy desk with its bent-lamination leg design is truly a masterpiece of joinery. Each leg consists of two separate 30-piece bent laminations that are mitered and joined in opposing directions. Legs meet apron in compound angles with Mortise and Tendon for both beauty and strength.

The top is made of a solid slab of Hawaiian "curly-grain" Koa wood, a rare exotic wood from Maui that was air-dried for seven years. The finish is handrubbed with wet sanding using super-fine grits and Danish oil. This is what "Heirloom Quality" is all about.

The book-matched top is made of dye-stained "curly-grain" Mango. This elegant island wood has a grain that while highly figured doesn't usually show up that well. Robert decided to highlight the natural grain with dye, and the result is spectacular!

The Aprons are of Rosewood. The slim, elegantly curved legs are Koawood with bent-lamination for extra strength. The top is sealed with long-lasting conversion lacquer, then carefully handrubbed with a diamond compound and wax finish.

Robert speaks of his work:

"When I design a piece, I think of it as a sculpture in the format of furniture. Often it is in nature that I find the most inspiration. Even a single blade of grass represents a perfect example of a subtle curve and gentle taper".

"My primary goal is to delight the viewer (and collector) with furniture that is fresh, alive and playful. I want to design and build furniture that irresistably pulls people in for a closer look and instills in them the desire to touch. The works of wood-art that I create are considered to be of heirloom quality to be cherished and treasured for years to come."

What's It Worth?

Valuations For Insurance & Estate Planning

Our Collector's Asset Valuation Portfolio includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Certified Insurance Valuation, Bill of Sale and Biography of the artist whose work you've acquired. This asset appraisal data accompanies every original work of fine art or mastercraft that you acquire from us.

For many of our works of original art, we also provide a "Curatorial Declaration". This report discusses the particular medium used in creating the artwork and other unique properties that might be present in the piece you have acquired. If appropriate, your artwork will be enrolled with the National Fine Art Title Registry and a certificate issued.

This kind of information is usually required both for insurance purposes and for reappraisals dictated by increased market values. You will find that this is an approach to Wealth Management Documentation that has been typically available to only select, high-net-worth individual collectors. We, however, feel that ALL of our clients deserve to be treated with this level of service, thus our Collector's Portfolio.

(Your CPA will love this investment-grade data.)
